Bathroom Heat Lamp Installation in Perth
Heat lamps and 3 in 1 units supplied, installed and replaced across Perth.
A heat lamp warms a small room quickly, which is why it’s the usual choice for bathrooms rather than a wall heater or a fixed panel. The 3 in 1 units combine heat, light and an exhaust fan in a single ceiling fitting. We install new units and replace existing ones across Perth.

What we install
3 in 1 units are the more popular choice, because they cover heating, lighting and ventilation from one ceiling cut-out. We also fit standalone heat lamps with a separate exhaust fan, which some households choose over a 3 in 1 for the benefit of a higher volume, better airflow fan, particularly in a larger bathroom.
If you haven’t chosen a unit, we can recommend a suitable one for the size of the room.
Supplying the unit
We can supply and install a unit, or fit one you’ve already bought.
Replacing an existing heat lamp is the simpler job, because the wiring and ceiling cut-out are already in place. Upgrading from a plain light to a 3 in 1 needs additional wiring and switching, since the heat, light and fan are operated separately.
Ventilation is the part that matters
The exhaust needs to be ducted to outside the building, through the eave or the roof. If it discharges into the roof space instead, the moisture stays in the ceiling, and over time that means mould, staining and damage to the plasterboard and framing.
It’s the most common thing we find done poorly on existing installs, and it isn’t visible from inside the bathroom, so people are usually unaware of it until there’s a mark on the ceiling.
While we’re there we can also look at bathroom fan installation and bathroom lighting, so the room is finished in one visit.
Why this is licensed work
A heat lamp or 3 in 1 unit is electrical equipment installed in a wet area. It has to be on a suitable circuit, switched correctly, and positioned to meet the wiring rules that apply to bathrooms, which set out how close fittings can be to a bath or shower. As with any electrical work in the home, you should get a safety certificate afterwards, and Building and Energy explain that side of it in their guide to having electrical work done.
Before you book
Let us know the size of the bathroom, whether there’s an existing heat lamp or exhaust fan in the ceiling, and whether there’s a roof space above or another storey. A photo of the existing fitting helps, and if you’ve bought a unit already, send the make and model.
Bathroom heat lamp FAQs
How much does it cost to install a bathroom heat lamp?
A like-for-like replacement, where the wiring and cut-out are already there, usually runs $150 to $300 and takes about an hour and a half on site. Moving from a plain light to a 3 in 1 costs more, typically $250 to $550 or more, because of the extra wiring the heat, light and fan need to run separately, and takes around two hours. We’ll quote your setup before we start.
Is a 3 in 1 better than separate fittings?
A 3 in 1 puts heat, light and ventilation in one fitting and one ceiling cut-out, which keeps the ceiling tidy and usually costs less to install. Separate fittings let you choose a more powerful heater or fan and put each one where it works best, which can suit larger bathrooms. It depends on the room, and we’re happy to talk it through.
Can I install a bathroom heat lamp myself?
No. This is licensed electrical work in WA, and the unit sits in a wet area, so it has to be positioned and wired to the rules that apply to bathrooms.
Do you supply the heat lamp or do I buy it?
Either. We can supply and install a unit, or fit one you’ve already bought. If you’re choosing your own, we can suggest a suitable model and the right size for the room.
How long does the installation take?
A straight replacement takes about an hour and a half. Upgrading from a plain light to a 3 in 1 takes a bit longer, usually around two hours, because of the extra wiring, though it’s normally still done in the one visit.
